pluck it, and slide your fingers when changing chords. At the part where "so we build from here" strum it with a powerchord F,G
this pattern will be also good for MYMP's "waiting in vain" and cindy lauper's "time after time" if you add a C chord :)
I think this octave will be nearer your voice range :)
